I went with Cheno because I think she has more of a vocal range than Patti, but I could be totally, totally wrong about that. And I haven't heard Patti sing in a long time.

To hedge my vote a bit, I think KC's a Formula 1 car and PL's an Audi sedan--head-to-head, the former "wins," but the latter has more practical range, and is still world-class.

No, seriously. I'm sorry I upped the stat there.
I think, well, I can't think of a good metaphor. But Cheno's voice is just great, but it's too showy. I don't even know if I can compare them. It'll be interesting to see where Cheno's voice will be in 20 years. Also, she's trained as an opera singer, that's much different than Patti's training.
LuPone has been steadily amazing for, what, 35, years, professionally? And she's still running great. I just don't think that Cheno has the staying power. I could make a metaphor about wine, but I don't know enough about wine. Something about vinegar? Just imagine it here.
I also think that Patti's a better actor, ACTOR, I MEANT.
Oh...icon...icon...hmmmm.

Now I feel bad picking "Who?"
I think people are more familiar with KC's singing than with Patti's, too.

There is no option for 'I know who these people are but don't know their singing well enough to choose', nor for 'THAT IS LIKE ASKING ME TO CHOOSE BETWEEN MY CHILDREN HOW DARE YOU'. Therefore I must abstain from this poll. (I would choose the first option; I'd just like to see the second option.)

I would also take that first option. And I object to the lack of wombats.

Obviously I went with Patti, but how could you forget to capitalize the P in LuPone? =(
I think Cheno has a great voice, but I enjoy listening to Patti more. That might be because I like her more, because I enjoy her choice of songs for her solo CDs or some combination of the two.
I also think the fact that Patti's voice sounds the same (if not better) now as it did in the 1970s is pretty amazing. And she sounds better live than on CDs. I mean, what even is that?

I would like to say the opposite about Cheno. Granted she sounds AH-mazing live, I mean, how could she not, but I enjoy her CDs better.
(They still need to put out a cast recording for Candide

Kristin Chenoweth is actually really good and a lot better than I always assume she's going to be. But it always takes me at least ten minutes to adjust to that squeaky thing she always seems to do.
Also, my vote is more to do with the fact that I just like Patti Lupone. I don't actually feel like I am in a position to say who's the bestter singer.
